Germany says defense and airspace sectors of this country are targeted by Russian cyber attacks

Germany says that its defense and air defense sectors have been targeted by cyber attacks from Russia.

Germany says that its defense and air defense sectors have been targeted by cyber attacks from Russia, while also announcing the summoning of the Moscow ambassador in Berlin.

The German Foreign Ministry stated on Friday, April 14, that cyber attacks attributed to the Russian military intelligence service GRU have targeted the ruling Social Democratic Party, defense procurement sectors, air defense, and information technology in Germany.

The German Foreign Ministry has pointed fingers at a group called APT28, linked to the Russian military intelligence service, for exploiting an unknown security vulnerability in Microsoft Outlook emails for an extended period.

Meanwhile, the German Foreign Minister warned Russia on Friday that it will face consequences for these attacks.

Annalena Baerbock said that the federal government’s investigation into who was behind the 2023 cyber attack on the Social Democratic Party has recently concluded.
