Protest gathering in Badakhshan, Afghanistan
The Taliban government has appointed a delegation to investigate the two-day protest gathering in Badakhshan, Afghanistan, regarding the leadership of Faizaldeen Fetrat, the Chief of Staff of the Taliban Army.
Mr. Fetrat, in an audio message, mentioned the recent protests, saying to all officials that the destruction of the Islamic Emirate’s poppy fields by the Taliban government is serious, and these demonstrations will not stop.
He added that if permission is given for protests, people might protest in other matters in the future as well.
He condemned the throwing of stones by protesters at Taliban forces’ vehicles and stated that a Taliban security officer was also injured. He asked Taliban officials to talk to local elders.
The Federal Assembly of Afghanistan has stated in its recent statements about the protests in Badakhshan that ending the people’s rights in these protests, putting an end to national oppression and tyranny, violating personal privacy, and discriminatory and supremacist national and intrusive behaviors, and taking control of local affairs management by themselves are the demands of the people.
