Iran and Russia were not invited to the Munich Security Conference.

The German government is proceeding with preparations for the 59th annual Munich Security Conference, even though Russia and Iran have effectively been expelled from it.

According to the German news agency DPA, leaders from over 40 countries and senior delegations from 90 other governments have been invited to the Munich conference, but Russia and Iran are not among them.

Russia is not attending this year’s Munich conference due to its invasion of Ukraine, which is considered a war in Europe, and the Islamic Republic is absent because of its deepening military cooperation with Russia and its violent crackdown on domestic protesters in the past five months.

This most important gathering of security experts in the world will take place over three days from February 28th to 30th, hosted by the German Defense Minister.
