We condemn the imprisonment sentence of the protesting teacher, Atakeh Rajabi, in the Iran Human Rights Campaign

We condemn the imprisonment of Atakeh Rajabi, a protesting teacher, by the Iranian Human Rights Campaign.

The Iranian Human Rights Campaign has condemned the sentencing of Atakeh Rajabi, an Iranian protesting teacher, to prison in statements on the XM network.

The Iranian Teachers’ Guild had previously reported that Ms. Rajabi, a cultural activist in Taybad, has been sentenced by Judge of Branch 35 of the Khorasan Razavi Provincial Court to two months of imprisonment and four months of suspended imprisonment.

The Human Rights Campaign wrote that Ms. Rajabi showed great courage during the peak of the protests for women’s freedom by releasing a video in which she called on authorities to stop the violence against protesters.

The organization stated that she has paid a heavy price for this action and now the appellate court has upheld her six-month prison sentence based on baseless charges.

We strongly condemn this injustice and express solidarity with Atakeh and all those who bravely raised their voices for a fairer society.

Mrs. Rajabi was arrested on 19th of Ordibehesht while leaving her house to participate in a protest gathering of teachers in Mashhad. She was detained by security forces in the city. On 24th of Ordibehesht, she was released from Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad after posting a bail of one billion and five hundred thousand tomans.
