Mojtaba Tavangar, the head of the Digital Economy Committee of the Parliament, stated that internet restrictions exceeding 30 days violate the constitution.

In a detailed letter to Ebrahim Raisi, Mojtaba Tavangar, the head of the Digital Economy Committee of the Parliament, wrote that people’s access to the internet should be restored as soon as possible and the damages caused by filtering should be compensated.

The letter mentioned that the country’s internet has been experiencing widespread disruptions for nearly four months, going beyond normal conditions. Tens of millions of citizens have been deprived of access to many essential services and communications, and tens of thousands of small and large businesses have suffered irreparable damages.

However, it can be acknowledged that neither the restrictions on calls and text messages during those days nor the limitations on international internet had any impact on the dissemination of dissenting information and inciting the public.
