More than a hundred cultural and artistic figures from around the world demand the release of Tumaj Salehi

More than a hundred cultural and artistic figures from around the world have demanded the release of Tomaj Salehi.

Over 100 international cultural and artistic figures, including prominent names like Sting and Margaret Atwood, have signed a letter calling for the immediate release of Tomaj Salehi, a protesting rapper and young Iranian from the prisons of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The letter states, ‘We, as musicians, artists, and cultural pioneers, declare our solidarity with Tomaj Salehi. We demand the immediate cancellation and annulment of his death sentence, the dismissal of all charges against him, and his prompt release.’

These artists and prominent figures further state in the letter that art must challenge the authority of governments, question them, criticize them, and provoke them. This is both our right and duty as artists.

Amir Raeesian, the lawyer of Tomaj Salehi, announced on the fifth of Ordibehesht the issuance of a death sentence for his client on charges brought in the 1401 case in the Revolutionary Court of Isfahan.
