Per Capita Consumption of Red Meat Halved for Iranian Citizens

Per capita consumption of red meat by Iranian citizens has halved.

According to Afshin Sadreddad, the CEO of the Central Association of Livestock in Iran, the purchasing power of Iranian citizens has halved due to the decrease in per capita consumption of red meat.

He told ILNA news agency that in the current situation, one cannot expect a decrease in the price of red meat, although authorities have continuously promised its realization in the second half of this year. But as we can see, no new developments have occurred.

Mr. Sadreddad said that considering the inflation rate and production costs, this product cannot be supplied at a price lower than 600,000 tomans per kilogram.

He stated that per capita consumption of red meat in the country is 6 to 7 kilograms per year.

Iranian citizens, especially with increasing inflation, are struggling, particularly in food items and housing. Among these, items like meat have experienced a significant price increase in recent years.

Economic recession on one side and rising inflation on the other have made the living conditions of many much harder than before.
