Rashid Masjedi, the world champion weightlifter, passed away

Iranian domestic media reported on Friday, May 10th, the death of Rashid Masjedi, the world champion weightlifter, at Milad Hospital in Isfahan.

Mohammad Sadegh Pasandideh, the secretary of the Sports Association for the Disabled and the Handicapped in Isfahan, confirmed the news and stated that the cause of the athlete’s death was a malignant mass in the tongue area and severe physical conditions after surgery.

35-year-old Rashid Masjedi, who won the championship title in shot put at the 2023 Paris Paralympic Games and the Hangzhou Asian Para Games, was preparing himself for the 2024 Paris Paralympics.
