Water in Tehran is being rationed.

Qasemzadeh, the spokesperson for the water industry, announced that the water reserves in Tehran are at 12% and stated that water rationing is not on the agenda of the Ministry of Energy. Instead, they are seeking to diversify water supply methods to overcome the crisis conditions.

The decrease in rainfall in Tehran province has led to an increasing reliance on underground water sources every day. According to Mohammadreza Bakhtiari, former CEO of Tehran’s Water and Wastewater Company, currently about 60% of the capital’s water consumption comes from underground sources, while only 40% is supplied from surface waters.
