The plan to combat currency brokers has been initiated
Detective Heydat Bahrami, head of the Economic Security Police of Greater Tehran, stated in an interview with Mehr News Agency
The plan to combat currency brokers, aimed at organizing and eliminating the grounds for violations, monitoring, observing, and controlling the currency market, has been put on the agenda of this police force and was executed last week using the available resources with intelligence actions and identification of market disruptors.
This plan was executed with the deployment of 20 operational teams and the use of 80 personnel at targeted locations.
This police official added that following the dissemination of news related to problems in international agreements, brokers are attempting to increase the currency rate by spreading negative signals. The Arbaeen Hosseini procession and ceremonies in the current situation have also intensified the pressure for dollar quota demand in the market. Based on the announced reasons, some profiteers and opportunists, by exploiting the situation, have caused turmoil in the currency market and increased currency prices. In this regard, 14 cases have been filed, 17 suspects arrested, and 2,874,106 units of currency have been discovered and referred to the judicial authorities.
