Trump and Biden are heading to the Mexico border for a duel.
Joe Biden and Donald Trump will both travel to the United States-Mexico border today, Friday, February 10, 2023, to participate in a risky political duel that could ultimately shape the fate of the presidential election in that country.
Last year, 2.5 million illegal immigrants crossed this border, causing strains on America’s processing facilities and stretching social services in major U.S. cities to the breaking point.
Today is a golden opportunity for Mr. Biden to convince voters that he is serious about immigration, while Mr. Trump’s trip is another chance for him to focus on an issue that has been the mainstay of his political career so far.
The upcoming November national elections are expected to be a rematch between Biden and Trump, although neither has secured their party’s nomination yet.
During Biden’s presidency, over 6.3 million immigrants were detained when crossing illegally into the U.S., a number higher than in previous administrations.
