The President of Turkey described the suppression of pro-Palestinian students as oppressive.

Erdogan stated that the boundaries of Western democracy are determined based on the interests of Israel, in reference to student protests in America.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in a speech on Thursday, described the suppression of pro-Palestinian students and academics in the widespread protests at American universities as oppressive.

Protests at universities across the United States against the killing of unarmed Palestinians in Gaza by the Israeli army have escalated to the extent that they have been accompanied by the suppression and arrest of a large number of protesters in some higher education institutions, including Columbia University and California.

He stated that these protesting students are subjected to violence, oppression, suffering, and even torture simply for demanding an end to the massacre in Gaza.
